The 2020 Audi Q7 is a thoroughly updated version of the brand's popular three-row SUV, originally introduced back in 2005. Buyers have been drawn to the Q7's modern styling, torquey engine options, all-wheel drive, seating for seven, and advanced infotainment systems. And although it probably won't be available in the United States until spring of 2020, the upcoming version will feature more of everything shoppers love.

Many of the new design and technology features bring the Q7 up to date with the rest of Audi's lineup and should be familiar to fans of the brand. Outside, Audi's added some aggressiveness to the front end that wasn't there in previous iterations. The new look visually tightens up the overall proportions down the sides so the Q7 seems less ponderous and more muscular.
The interior now includes the dual-touchscreen MMI setup found in the latest crop of Audi models, while retaining the Q7's comfortable ergonomics. But there are some new tricks, too: The second-row bench can now be upgraded to allow for individual seating positions for all three passengers.
Exact powertrains for the United States have not been announced. But it's safe to assume the mild-hybrid turbocharged V6 found in the Q8 will be present in the updated Q7 to keep pace with competitors' improved power and efficiency. We also anticipate a plug-in hybrid model to join the lineup eventually. However, current information about when is scarce. The suspension, a traditional Q7 strength, receives the active anti-sway bar system also found on the Q8. The refreshed 2020 Q7 should provide excellent handling and a comfortable ride, especially considering the rear-wheel steering, air suspension, and adjustable dampers that are already optional equipment on the current model.
Luxury three-row SUVs are all vying for the hard-earned dollars of families who want their vehicles to be able to do a little of everything. Buyers expect roomy interiors and comfortable seating for their families. But they also demand modern technology features to entertain and make driving easier as well as performance attributes that rival smaller vehicles. The current model Q7 is our top-ranked vehicle in its class, but both BMW and Mercedes-Benz are bringing new three-row SUVs to market, so these upgrades are vital if Audi wants to hold on to the top spot.
BMW launched a new X5 and a new flagship three-row, the X7, while Mercedes-Benz has a new GLS and is launching a new, smaller three-row crossover, the GLB. You can also choose from strong competitors such as the Volvo XC90 and Land Rover Range Rover Discovery. If you want to save some money, the Hyundai Palisade and Volkswagen Atlas offer roomy interiors and a good amount of features at the expense of outright performance and the flashiest tech upgrades.
